This friendly class welcomes students of all abilities - the sessions are appropriate for complete beginners, those who want to improve their drawing skills and others with plenty of drawing experience.

The course, taught by Judy Purbeck MA, will cover: line, tone, proportion and basic anatomy; how to draw heads, hands & feet; and how to use various drawing media. There will be a different model each week in short and longer poses. A1 and A2 size drawing boards are provided in addition to paper.

The fees for this course include payment for the weekly model and the provision of paper.

Please bring your own drawing materials. To start with you will need charcoal (various widths), an eraser, a putty rubber, a graphite pencil (6B) and masking tape.

Judy Purbeck gained a BA in Fine Art at the School of Art, University of Brighton. Then along with her sister and a friend, founded the highly successful fashion company 'English Eccentrics'. Judy returned to art school in 1999, completing her MA in Drawing in Fine Art Practice at Wimbledon College, UAL (University of the Arts London) in 2000 and started teaching Life Drawing in January 2001. She was Chair of the HLSI Art Gallery committee from 2004 - 2006 and taught both Life and Portrait drawing at the HLSI between 2008 and 2012 and is very happy to return to teaching at this special venue.
