A rave review at this year’s April Stratford Festival of Shakespeare in Music described Benjamin’s young voice as ‘remarkable’ and another praised Kristiina’s lute-playing as ‘flawless’. Leila Alexander’s sensitive reading of five Shakespeare Sonnets intelligently complements this musical offering of a dozen works by Robert Johnson, Thomas Morley, John Dowland and John Wilson and some anonymous composers. One piece – perhaps erroneously – is even attributed to Henry the Eighth.
Tonight’s Concert will finish before 9.00 when complimentary wine and other drinks will be offered in the Members’ Room, giving the audience the opportunity to meet the artists.
