Expert talks on current developments in science and technology

Science committee members all have a background in science, mathematics, technology or medicine. Talks cover a broad range of pertinent topics and speakers may be the authors of articles in the scientific press or broadcasters on television and radio. Audience members are encouraged to contribute to the discussion. Lectures are also live-streamed. HLSI members are welcome to suggest topics or speakers. The Science Group aims to develop activities and interest in science and technology in the Institution. Its members feel that there is a need to encourage a greater understanding amongst non-scientists of what scientists do and of scientific method. Questions and discussion are encouraged.

Attending Science talks

The talks are open to anyone with a general interest in the topics and take place in the Victoria Hall on Thursdays from 8.00 to 9.30pm.

Meetings are free to everyone. You may register online by 1pm on the day of the event or arrive on the evening.
