Ruth Padel is a poet, novelist, classicist, philhellene, music-lover and conservationist. She has won the National Poetry Competition; several of her poetry collections were shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot and Whitbread Prizes. She has taught Greek at Oxford and tracked tigers all over the world. During the pandemic, she published Beethoven Variations: Poems on a Life, a verse biography of the composer which the TLS found “breathtaking”. Ruth will be reciting and talking about her poems, accompanied by recordings from the great composer.
