David will talk about his life-long career working in the National Health Service. He will talk about the challenges, successes and difficulties. He will also focus on the opportunities and challenges the NHS faces in the future.

After university David became an NHS management trainee. He began and ended his forty year career in the NHS, taking a few years out to work in the private sector. He was the CEO of the Whittington Hospital and then the Royal Free. He was responsible for the development of the new Chase Farm hospital, the most advanced digitally in the UK.
He moved on to become the Regional Director of the NHS for the whole of London. His last promotion before retiring was to the Chief Operating Officer for NHS England – a leadership role right at the top. Since retiring in 2023 he has become an advisor to Doccla – a company which works with the NHS providing telehealth to patients at home, monitoring them closely to aid discharge and prevent re-admission to hospital.
